Nightmare Fever Dream

I have been to plenty of niche concerts but never one even close to this. Absolutely awful, self-indulging artist who doesn't know the first thing about live audio production. Could not hear vocals or bass at all over the obnoxious keys and drums. Not that he sang much though. TC barely did any of his songs and instead just continually did these techno Creedance-Clearwater-Revival-esque instrumental solos, except I actually like CCR because they were building and crescendo-ing. When he finally did do Dragonball Durag or Them Changes you literally could not hear him and he sped them up into a funkless cacophony. In between "songs", Thundercat would tell these weird and awful jokes and stories that made no sense. The lights were blinding and the music was louder than when I was front row at a kanye west concert (sitting literally a foot from a speaker). The whole thing was so overwhelming that I had no idea whether to laugh or cry and my friend went to the restroom and threw up twice. Have you ever had the chance to sit through a 25 minute keyboard solo? Would not recommend. After 10 minutes you're thinking "surely, here comes the end". 15 minutes go by at a snail's pace and you're seeing a roomful of people on their phones or leaving and you're thinking "he has to see this". At the 20 minute mark you feel nothing but anger and disillusionment "why would he put us through this?? he knows what we came here for. Does he just not care?" By the end pf the show I was thinking of ways to let the world know to never subject yourself to the POW camp that is a Thundercat concert and... well... this is all I've got unfortunately. Bottom line is that I have never seen a less engaged crowd (other than these two acid trippers having what looked like the time of their life) and it could not have been more deserved. So if you like this artist and want to see him live, me too. Save your money.

Terrible music

Honestly the worst band I've ever heard live. It was like none of them knew what song they were playing. The keyboard was just so incredibly loud you couldn't hear the vocals or the bass at all and it was like he was hitting all of the wrong and worst keys and sounds. The few times I heard the bass it sounded like it was out of tune as well. Don't get me wrong I love thundercat and still listen to them on Spotify and think they're great but live they are the absolute worst. The only reason why it isn't a 1 star is because he had amazing audience interaction and looked like he was having so much fun with it all and that's all that matters at the end of the day. Great guy having a great time on stage. Music isn't great but that's okay as long as he's having fun and being nice to the audience :)
